Do YOU have that much courage?
Feeling a bit low, I think.
Hard day.
Is that a statement or a question?
Question.
You said that??
Yes, I asked you a question. Did you have a hard day?
I don’t know, maybe? Probably not really – I only had four appointments and two were cut short.
What’s the problem then?
I’m not sure to be honest.
You’re tired.
Really? It must be more than that?
No, that’s all it is. You’re tired.
I don’t know, it seemed more serious than that.
It’s not though. You take the way you feel waaaay too seriously, most of you do. Humans are far from perfect in physical make up, as a result your physical ebbs and flows affect the way you feel. But most of you overlook that fact. It’s an easy mistake to make because your thinking, and intuitive skills are almost perfect by comparison to your physical make up.
As a result, you make the mistake of thinking that any negative feelings must be more important than they really are – very often what you think is an intuitive sense that trouble is on its way, or a confirmation that your life is plagued with as many problems as you’d feared – is actually no more than your body telling you you’re tired – or that you need to rest, or exercise, or eat less or eat better. In your case you’re just a bit tired.
Really? Our thinking and intuitive skills are almost perfect?
Considering your far-from-perfect physical construction, yes – by comparison, yes. You are able to tap into enough infinite intelligence to make up for your physical shortcomings.
‘Infinite intelligence’. Sounds new age.
It’s ageless. Stop worrying about whether a thing agrees with what you’ve been taught and whether it is ‘doctrinally safe’. You’re all in danger of becoming ‘Doctrinal Analysts’.
How do you mean, ‘Doctrinal Analysts’?
You’re constantly reviewing what you hear from me and from others, analysing it to make sure it fits with your doctrine…
Isn’t that good?
No. Do you know how many doctrines there are?? You analyse what you hear because you fear it might not fit with what you’ve been taught. Fear is never good. And, if you insist on fear of the new, I’ll never be able to tell you anything new.
What you’ve been taught isn’t always true. Far from it. New makes you uncomfortable, which is exactly how it made the Pharisees and the Bereans feel. The Pharisees wanted to kill truth because it was ‘new’, because it didn’t line up with what they’d been taught. The Bereans had the courage to accept the new, the courage to accept that what they’d been taught was wrong.
You all love to quote the Bereans, you do it when you hear anything different than what you’ve been taught. That’s a mistake. You do it because you’ve misunderstood the Berean’s story. The point of the story is that the Bereans were prepared to accept something completely different from what they’d been taught.
